Troubleshooting the Cachetur Assistant

Troubleshooting the Cachetur Assistant

From time to time, we receive support requests from users who are having trouble getting the Cachetur Assistant to work properly. The most common issues are that buttons don’t appear, or routes don’t show up on the map.

If you’re experiencing problems, here are a few steps that can often solve the issue:

Check Your Browser Settings

If you are using Google Chrome, there are two important things you need to verify:

  • Go to chrome://extensions/ in your browser. Or through the menu

  • Enable Developer mode (toggle switch in the top right corner).

  • Find Tampermonkey in the list of extensions

  • Make sure that Allow User Scripts is enabled.

Without these settings, the Cachetur Assistant script will not run properly.

Provide Console Log Screenshots if the Issue Persists

If you have already enabled Developer mode and allowed user scripts, but the Cachetur Assistant still doesn’t work, we will need more information to investigate further.

The best way to do this is to provide a screenshot of your browser’s console log. This log contains important messages that show what is working (and what isn’t) in the assistant. Since these messages only exist on your computer, the developer cannot access them without your help.

How to open the console log

On most browsers, you can open the console in one of these ways:

  • Press F12

  • Press Ctrl + Shift + I

  • Open the browser menu and look for Developer Tools

Once open, click the Console tab(1, then reproduce the issue. Take a screenshot of the messages shown and attach it to your support request.

Some times to remove static messages from other things in your browser you might need to filter where the 2 arrow is pointing, filter for either "userscript", or if you're using Firefox filter for "cachetur". This makes it much easier for the developer to identify what is going wrong on your setup.

Summary

  • Make sure Developer mode is enabled in Chrome and that Tampermonkey allows user scripts.

  • If problems remain, send a screenshot of your console log when submitting a support request.

Following these steps will often resolve the problem, or at the very least give the developer the information needed to fix it.
